Bunkers a plenty!

Well, we're back from our little mini-vacation. Alex was thoroughly surprised and Calvin did great with Joe and Jenny. We stayed in a hotel on Friday night and then played golf on Saturday morning. As the title implies, Alex spent the fair share of his playing time in the sand! But it was fun, and refreshing to get away.

Back to the daily grind, working out and cleaning house. Last night we went for margaritas and fajitas....it was Wednesday. Afterwards, we went to Marshalls to get a shower gift for Ashlyn (a cousin who's baby is due in December) We ended up getting two sleepers, a cute little blanket and a basket to put it all in.

Excuse me for a second, Calvin needs to take a nap. Feel free to visit the concession stand in the mean time.

And we're back.

Anyway, what else? Oh yeah. Alex has a big show coming up on the 28th of October. He did a 25 minute "practice" set on Tuesday night that went over really well. It's a comedy show slash halloween party all in one. It should be a good time.

We're going to the Bonefish Grill this friday night for Alex's birthday. The restaurant is fantastic. I'm not sure what we're going to do the rest of the weekend, but I'm sure we'll find something fun.

On the Calvin front--
He's gaining dexterity daily! He loves to grab for toys now and it doesn't take him 20 tries now either! As soon as he gets it, he stuffs it in his mouth. Yay. Yesterday in the nursery at Red's (our gym) he played in the exersaucer. He loved it! We're going to be buying him one soon. He talks and talks and talks and talks.....babble babble babble. It's so cute to listen to him talk to himself when he goes to sleep. He's also trying SO hard to sit up and roll over, he frustrates himself trying to do so.

busy busy busy

So, apparently this blog has a bit of popularity and has started to collect a following because I've recieved several emails asking me to update. I know my son is the cutest thing in the world, but really, he isn't that interesting...yet.

So, Calvin has been doing pretty much the same stuff.....eating, pooping, sleeping, rinse and repeat. He's a big smiler and talker now though. He loves to have little conversations with us, Gary, or just himself. He's getting much more interactive, and is starting to recognize Alex and I. He gives me a big smile in the morning -- after he has been fed, that is. He's still a little charmer and a great big flirt. He had been sleeping through the night, although last night he woke up at 2 wanting to be fed. I think he might be going through another growth spurt (!!!!), because he was eating a TON yesterday. This kid is going to be ginormous.

For the moment, Alex and I are much more interesting...which isn't saying much. We still have our Wednesday night date of Margaritas and Fajitas at Azteca's (they have fabulous margaritas....just ask my mom). It has developed a bit of a following it seems, because we have had company for the past few weeks and are expecting more company tomorrow.

Alex has been playing a lot of golf...when he should be working! Don't get on my case when we don't move back for 10 years.....it's his fault! Although, it has tapered off a bit with his golf buddy running out of funds. He's currently sick with a cold, which I'm sure I'll have soon as well. He's still doing comedy pretty much every week, and has a big show scheduled for Halloween weekend in Lafayette. If all goes as planned, it should be a big payday for him so keep those fingers crossed! There are open mics opening all over the state that we are trying to get to, but finding a sitter is a little difficult, and we don't want to be away from him EVERY night.

Me? I'm doing great. Battling post pregnancy hormones like a mofo. I'm sure it isn't helping that I'm on birth control as well, everyone I've talked to said that they were crazy in the first few months on birth control. Oh well. Kudos to Alex for sticking around though, really ;) I've been working out hard, trying to lose this lil gut that Calvin gave me. 2 hours a day for 5 or 6 days a week. I took the day off yesterday to take care of Alex, but I hit it again hard today. I met a woman for lunch today that I met on the internet, a site that introduces moms in the area. She too is a stay at home mom. She has a 4 year old boy, and a 18 mo. old girl. She is part of a few playgroups and mommy and me clubs and is introducing me into them as well. It will be nice to have other moms to associate with in the area. My friends are great, but it's different when they don't have kids and we do (ie: Saturday night, we were asked to go to the movies with some friends and were given only an hour or so notice.....and then they asked if we were bringing the baby in the movie with us!)I would NEVER ever do that. With how loud Calvin is, I don't think the other patrons would be too appreciative...no matter how cute he is. ;) It will also be nice to have little outings to bring him on. They also plan moms night out and similar little outings just for the moms or parents. I'm interested to see how this will all pan out.

Alex's birthday surprise is this weekend. We're staying at a golf resort. Hopefully he'll love it, because I don't have a backup plan. I got him a new golf bag as well. :) I'll let you know how it goes and hopefully get some pictures.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the last few warm days.

For all of you who don't know....this is "the poop face"
