We're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack

So, I'm being hounded to update this....I suppose it's about time.

As most of you know, we spent the last week in Minneapolis visiting my family and friends before the semester started up for Alex again. Before I go into the details, I would like everyone to know that my genius husband did excellent on his comps. Yay!

Now that that is out, back to the vacation. We left Louisiana on Thursday, the 10th. The day of the suspected terrorism attempts...thankfully we knew the new rules and regulations ahead of time and didn't run into any problems.

Friday, my mom and I went shopping while Alex went and played golf at Legends. He will kill me if I announce his score, so we'll just say that he got an "A" for effort. He loved the course though. That night the two of us left Calvin with my mom and headed out to dinner and a couple bars with a few of my friends from highschool...it was a trip seeing people that I hadn't seen in 6 or 7 years. They all thought Calvin was adorable.

Saturday, we met my aunt and uncle at the Minneapolis Farmer's Market....I forgot how incredibly kitschy that place is. I love it. Then we went home and just hung out for the rest of the night....we were in bed by 10. God, I'm getting old.

Sunday was Calvin's baby shower. Boy, did he hit the jackpot. At this rate, I won't have to buy this boy a thing until he hits puberty. The loot is on it's way down and should be arriving tomorrow....now, it's just a question as to where I'm supposed to put everything!

Monday was pretty low key. We took a long walk (and tested out our new jogging stroller)to get coffee....Alex dropped my coffee, so we ended up splitting one...which was ok....after walking there, it seemed a little silly to drink a 600 calorie drink anyway. We went to my dad's that afternoon, had dinner with my aunt and uncle and then went to bed. It's amazing how in love with Calvin my parents are. I didn't have to do a thing the entire week. If only I could have them around to do this all the time.

Tuesday, Alex and I went canoeing. We started on Lake Calhoun and went quite some distance...it took us a few minutes (ok, several) to coordinate our paddles...but once we did, we hardly hit anything. ;)

Wednesday was our last day in town. Alex and I went for a 25 mile bike ride. I forgot that it's possible to exercise outside without dying. We then went and said goodbye to some of our friends.

Thursday morning, my mom, dad and the three of us went out for breakfast before our flight left. Our waiter was a little creepy, but who can resist pancakes.

Calvin was great on the plane. We were complimented on our well behaved baby...hopefully he stays this well behaved.

All in all, we had a great time. We got to eat Chipotle TWICE, did some great shopping, and spent some real quality time with my family. I only wish we had more time. Hopefully next year we will have more than just a week.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make this a great end of the summer vacation.

And now, what you all have been waiting for....the pictures:

My first smile!

He apparently isn't a fan of this sweater vest.

Grandma and Calvin

The day daddy dropped poop on his foot.

Alex is a pro at packing.

wooo-hooo

We probably have too much fun at his expense.....

Look everyone -- I can use the big boy potty!

Cutest baby, eva.

And that's a wrap everyone. Sorry for the wait, hope your stay was enjoyable.

Come again soon!
