God bless $1.50 margaritas and the end of the semester...

So, tonight Alex and I went out and celebrated the upcoming end of the semester. We went to Azteca's for 1.50 margaritas and fajitas......oh so good. Calvin didn't have as much fun as they wouldn't put a margarita in a baby bottle...oh well, when he gets older I guess.

He slept for 5 hours last night again! Yay!! I only really had to get up once before dawn, which was refreshing.

I started my new job this week, tutoring a 39 year old man who was brain damaged as a child. His name is James Mir. We're learning reading, writing and simple math....it's definitely interesting to try and figure out the best way to teach him....he's been learning wrong for so long. It was easy for me to see that he was a visual learner and he hadn't been learning like that so connections were difficult for him to make...but he is making progress. I've put together some worksheets and what not, and he really enjoys doing activities while he learns. I'll keep everyone updated, but it makes me feel good to help someone. It's nice to be able to bring Calvin as well, James loves him.

Anyway, here are his latest photos...not too many, but a few.
(alex took the ones with his butt hanging out...he calls them artistic nudes...;) )

Head in a blanket!!!! AHHH! What we do when Calvin is wearing nice clothes and we don't want him to spit up all over them.

artistic nude #1.

artistic nude #2

Artistic nude #3.....he does have a cute little baby booty though.

For those of you who think Calvin is a sweet, little gift from god....I can assure you, his poo is nothing short of a delivery from hell.

bowling and brisket sammiches

Well, today Alex and I went bowling with Joe and Jenny instead of going canoeing or going to New Orleans.....as usual, I was horrible. Alex said that he was horrible too....and ended up bowling a 175 on our first game. I hate it when he does that.

Calvin made it through his first full day away from us, ok, only 6 hours...but still, it was a long time! I missed him like crazy.

We watched the wfa card tonight, it was decent, although I doubt the majority of you care. Calvin likes the fights as well, although he fell asleep halfway through. Quitter.

Here are some pictures of tummy time, and Calvin getting ready for bed in his footie jammies. There is just something about watching a baby fuss in footie jammies that makes everything ok.

Someone apparently doesn't like his footie jammies as much as we do. Oh well, that is why you can't dress yourself.

Rain and margaritas

Well, Alex and I were supposed to go canoeing this weekend but due to possible adverse weather conditions, we've had to postpone. :(

It was our reward to ourselves for Calvin living an entire month! Yay! Who would have thought.

We're now trying feverishly to plan something else, but when you have a party of 8, it's a little hard to put something together at the last minute that everyone wants to do. Oh well. Maybe we'll head to New Orleans for the day, do a little bit of shopping....we'll see.

Calvin will still be spending the day with his maw-maw, as I'm sure I would be killed if I didn't bring him over there for at least a few hours. It will be nice to have the break anyway.

In other news, and some that I'm sure Joe will be happy to hear. Calvin is already infatuated with video games. He loves to sit and watch the screen while Daddy plays.....great.....

Fun in the tub!

Here are a few pictures from last nights bath....he loves bathtime.

New pictures!

I suppose you probably want an update.

Sunday, we weighed Calvin, 10.5 lbs...save a few ounces because he was wearing a (clean) diaper. He's getting SO big. His old man skin on his knees is filling out quickly....probably due to how much this kid eats! If he is anything like Alex, we're going to have a hell of a grocery bill in the future.

His nights are....so-so. He has good nights and bad nights, as I'm sure any newborn does. He slept for 5 whole hours one night..but that appears to have just been a tease because it hasn't happened again. Oh well. He is usually up every 2-3 hours wanting to be fed, which is difficult considering that with Alex's comps coming up and the importance of his studying, I've taken over full nightly duties (at least during the week, on the weekends it's his turn ;) ) Thankfully he falls back asleep easily after his tummy is full.....usually. He is getting more regulated though, thanks to the schedule I put him on. I would take this any day over what it used to be like, where he was up constantly because his nights and days were mixed up. He understands for the most part that nights are for sleeping and days are for playing...and sleeping.

He loves his tummy time! He loves to just lounge around on his boppy and look around. He is really able to focus on things now. He loves Gary, he watches him intently....although Gary isn't too fond of him. He's a little apprehensive of this little loud, smelly thing. I would be too. He also loves his swing...I tell you, it is a mother's dream. He likes to sit in it even if he is awake, with the rocking though, he isn't awake for long....it makes it so much easier to get whatever I need to done. He usually naps in the swing in the morning while mommy takes a shower....I love it probably more than he does :)

Let's see....what else does he do. Eat....got that, sleep.....got that too, poop.....that's about it, really.

First post

Well everyone, this is the easiest way for me to relay updates about our little one. I'm sorry if it may seem a bit impersonal, but as he grows older, he demands more and more of my time....

I'll still make it a point to keep in personal contact with each and every one of you, but this is a place to come at your leisure to catch the latest on Calvin and maybe look at a picture or two.

Enjoy!
